Evidence-based oncology and hematology

Catalog and status of of the quality of medical evidence for the most important clinical decisions in hematology and oncology

The Office of Technology Assessment of the Congress of the United States has estimated that only 10-20% of medical practice is evidence-based. Systematic assessment of the quality of medical evidence in different subspecialty fields has not been attempted. To answer the questions How much hematology practice is evidence-based?" and How much oncology practice is evidence-based?" we have created a CATALOG of the most important clinical decisions in the field of HEMATO-ONCOLOGY. For each of interventions associated with a particular clinical decision the QUALITY of MEDICAL EVIDENCE supporting given decision/intervention is listed.
