Student opportunities
Because of my previous work, there are several opportunities
for International Field Experience (IFE), Special Projects (SpP)
or Independent Studies. The topics are mostly in Global Health
and Environmental and Occupational Health. The actual list of
opportunities as of Jan 2009 can be seen under
Opportunities for student IFE and
Special Projects. More information on the possible hosting
institutions can be found under
Hosting institutions for IFE.
Research
Currently (2005-2009) I am involved in a project that tries to
combine improvements at workplaces with the overall improvement
of living conditions and the creation of sustainable livelihood
opportunities. It is funded by the ECOHEALTH program of the
International Development Research Centre (IDRC),
Canada and the Asian Development Bank (ADB)
("Assessing and Managing of Health Risks in Small and Medium
Scale Enterprises of Quarrying and Stone Crushing in Uttar
Pradesh/Northern India"). Other research initiatives include
implementation research for the establishment of Basic
Occupational Health Services in developing countries and for
training interventions in Primary Health Care.
Teaching
N. Wagner is available as advisor for Special Projects,
International Field Experience and
Independent Studies. Students should refer to the
Opportunities for student IFE and
Special Projects web site for more information on specific
opportunities. The opportunities are mostly in Global Health
with a focus in environmental health and on working and living
conditions as well as implementation challenges for Global
Health prevention programs.
